Domus de Maria, Chia, Teulada

Three Jewels of South Sardinia

The Sulcis territory is characterised by a great variety of landscapes, a place that combines the sea and the mountains. Its beaches are characterised by sand dunes dotted with centuries-old junipers, a typical feature of the area. The most characteristic beach is that of Chia a fascinating place that enchants with its colours, and the tower of Chia ;lapped by an emerald green sea. The holm oak, coniferous and Mediterranean maquis woods of Is Cannoneris are also special, a paradise for hikers. Of particular charm is the area of Teulada, a unique place characterised by coastal scenery of unparalleled beauty with soft white sands.

Festivals and popular traditions of Sulcis

The towns and the coastline are animated every year by festivals (of goats, wild boar, figs and fish) and feasts: at the beginning of October, the patronal feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and for Pentecost, followed by five days dedicated to the Campidanese poetry competitions and the procession of the Holy Trinity, accompanied by decorated floats and horsemen in traditional costume, giving very evocative events to visitors who choose to participate in these events.

In contact with the civilisations of the past

The Sulcis area tells a story linked to the past, in fact we find the ancient traces of prehistoric civilisations, such as in the necropolis of Montessu and the sacred well of Val Tattino and also the nuraghe of Baccu Idda. From the main nuraghe of Baccu Idda where the king probably resided, one could check and see the other nuraghi.at least thirty in the whole of the adjacent territory.
