VILLA ABBA ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM Since 1997 (the year of its opening), the “Villa Abbas” Archaeological Museum has been housed in a small building from the early 1900s, formerly a municipal headquarters, barracks and school, restored in the 1990s. That building stands on Nuragic and medieval pre-existences, and probably represented, at least until the modern age, a crucial point in the power management space of Sardara’s village community. Both the museum and the cooperative owe their name to the toponym that, in medieval times, identified a settlement located in the nearby spa town and that probably developed as early as Roman times (“Villa Abbas,” in fact, means “city of waters” in the Sardinian language). The Villa Abbas Museum has a very rich bookshop where it is possible to find, in addition to the ceramic objects offered on this site, many other gadgets and vast collection of books on the history, art, archaeology and anthropology of Sardinia, with a specific section for children.

is a nuragic monument located in the town of Sardara, a municipality in southern Sardinia.
