Corte Cristina is located in Quartucciu, a few kilometres from Quartu Sant’Elena and Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, an island at the centre of the Mediterranean. The town is located between the splendid Poetto beach, the Molentargius park, a wetland area where pink flamingos rest and nest, and the Sette Fratelli mountains. It is ten kilometres from the G. Mameli international airport of Cagliari-Elmas and eight kilometres from the capital’s port. Not far away is the ‘SaTanca’ golf course and the ‘Diverland’ aquapark, the largest water park in Sardinia. Nearby are many important historical and cultural sites including the ‘Tomb of the Giants’ Sa Dom ‘è S’ orku’ dating back to the 10th century BC, the Arru nuraghe, medieval ruins and Roman baths. There is also the unique Punic necropolis of Pill’è Matta, which has attracted the interest of leading scholars from all over the world, including the famous anthropologist Don Brothwell of the University of York, discoverer of the mummy of Nefertiti. There are eight churches in the town, including that of S. Efisio, a splendid work of Romanesque art dating back to the 12th century. Corte Cristina is an ancient residence that had its heyday in the 1700s. It consists of several bodies that overlook an inner garden. It has been skilfully restored, leaving the exterior as well as the interior intact. It features charming and elegant rooms, whose architectural style, frescoes, decorations and period furnishings provide an enchanting setting for any kind of ceremony. From the elegant French windows, one can admire the garden, whose plants include a splendid and extremely rare Cycas* that is over four metres tall and over 300 years old. The residence includes several halls, all air-conditioned, which can host events of various kinds, from weddings to conferences, fashion shows, receptions and exhibitions, given their different volumes and the possibility of modulating the space. The structure includes the Accademia del Gusto, a prestigious food and wine association, and the Locanda della Corona, which offers guests its large rooms, all furnished with period furniture.

Corte Cristina is a noble residence so named in memory of the Queen of the Two Sicilies Maria Cristina of Savoy who lived part of her early years in this magical environment with her sisters Maria Anna and Maria Teresa.
